Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy

With age previous injuries, normal wear and tear, and degenerative conditions can negatively impact your quality of life.

Research has shown that platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy helps stimulate the body's own repair mechanisms and promote tissue regeneration.

Dr. Eugene Rajaratnam has helped hundreds of patients resume their active lifestyles pain-free using platelet-rich plasma injections.

What is ppt?

Platelets are blood cells that allow your body to coagulate and clot. PRP is rich in growth factors and proteins that stimulate and promotes healing of damaged tissue.

Using a concentrate of your body's own platelets, PRP injections accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints by promoting new cell growth.

Conditions benefit from PRP injections

Platelet-rich plasma therapy has been shown to hasten recovery after surgery as well as stimulate the healing process for such conditions as:

Damaged muscles, tendons and ligaments
Osteoarthritis and other types of joint pain
Hair loss
Skin damage
Back pain
Neck pain
Sexual dysfunction

What happens during PRP treatment?

Dr. Rajaratnam begins with a consultation and thorough exam at the California Wellness Institute to determine if PRP injections are the right treatment for you. If it is, he explains the process and determines the number of injections you'll need.

Dr. Rajaratnam will start the therapy by drawing a blood sample, which he separates into its various components using a centrifuge. He then may combine your PRP with exosomes to create a serum that's highly effective in regeneration of your damaged tissue.

Next is the injection. Depending on the location of the injury or illness, you will receive an anesthetic to ensure your comfort during the injection.

Each PRP treatment takes less than an hour, and you may need a series of treatments to achieve the desired results.

The flood of platelets provides your body with an abundance of the growth factors needed for tissue repair, which stimulates and accelerates your own healing response. You may experience some swelling and tenderness as your body's healing response kicks in. However, within a couple of weeks, you should notice significant improvement. This may include decreased pain and increased mobility.
